The Biosciences Glossary
I have over 40 years of experience as a bioscientist and educator. I hold a PhD in Biochemistry from the UK and have an extensive background in academia and research. For the last 25 years, I have been teaching biomedical sciences and biochemistry at British universities.
Why This Book Was Written
The Biosciences Glossary was born out of a simple need: the lack of a comprehensive, modern glossary tailored for today’s bioscience students.
I relied heavily on a glossary that helped me navigate the subject's complexities during my studies. I noticed the absence of a similar resource for current students, so I compiled one. This book is designed to be an invaluable learning tool, providing clear definitions and explanations for over 2,000 terms and abbreviations commonly used in the biosciences.
Who Should Use This Book?
This glossary is an indispensable tool for anyone studying biosciences, biomedical, or life sciences. It is suitable for high school students, undergraduates, and those pursuing advanced degrees such as Master’s or Doctoral studies. Whether you're new to the field or deep into your studies, this book is crafted to support your learning journey.

What This Book Doesn’t Cover
While this glossary is extensive, it doesn’t include every possible term used in the biosciences. If you notice a missing term that you believe should be included, Dr. Morris encourages you to reach out via email at nickmorrisphd@gmail.com for consideration in future editions.
